Getting ready for Seattle's Zombie Walk was no easy task. It required late night viewings of Shaun of the Dead, researching makeup tips, getting in touch with our characters, and clandestine planning online. Once the background information was cemented and our instructions were distributed, we were well on way of joining the ranks of Seattle's finest undead.

Perfecting the look was no easy task: not only we were specialized zombies (long undead from the 50's) but we had never been zombies before. After playing with gray, white, and green face makeup combined with charcoal eyeliner and stage blood, we had our looks down.

Zombie-fied

After we were ready to go, we descended on U-Village at a prime Sunday shopping time at 4:30 pm. Families getting their dinner preparations and last minute Halloween party supplies were greeted with a hungry mob of about 100 zombies. Unprepared witnesses had a mix of reactions: delight, fear, disgust, embarrassment, excitement, and confusion. My favorite group was a large troupe of Japanese musicians who all squealed when we came near, but still followed the group around as we made our stops at some of Seattle's finest shops, including the Gap, Starbucks, Tommy Bahama, and Barnes and Noble.

Here's a photo of a portion of my Halloween costume. But don't jump to conclusions and write me off as just a boring 50's girl. That would be far to easy and predictable for someone with my costume enthusiasm.
